Look what you can do with your scraps and zip strips!
First I chose to cover the front of a White Daisy Value Pack card with Seaglass Cardstock before cutting out a circle. I then used Zip Strips from the paper pack and 1/4" wide strips of coordinating cardstock (Emerald, Sapphire and Sorbet) to adhere to the circle.
I turned it over and trimmed the excess off with scissors, just like I did in my last blog post for the scrapbooking layout below, and adhered it to the inside of the card. I used another zip strip, some Prickly Pear Complements stickers and sequins to embellish. The border inside I drew with my journaling pen.

These next card follows a similar design using the Hearts Thin Cuts and the Quatrefoil Embossing Folder using Lemon cardstock on the front.

Prickly Pear Scrapbooking Layout - Family Time

Prickly Pear Scrapbooking Layout - Family Time

at my scrapbooking workshops.
This page in the Idea Book was my inspiration for my layout. I wasn't too excited by the cactus paper in this pack but all the other bright papers are really nice!
To start you need to cut a circle from any cardstock or light coloured paper to use as the background. I left a tiny gap between the stripes so you will see the background. I used a dinner plate to trace around and cut out the circle.
Cut 1"x12" strips from your patterned papers. I used two from each of these four designs.
Cut 1/2" strips from co-ordinating cardstock. I cut two each from Sorbet, Sapphire and Emerald. Lay the strips out in the order you are happy with and starting at the top of your circle, adhere the first strip. I used the Bonding Memories Broad Tip Glue Pen and saved half of this first strip to use at the bottom of the circle. If your circle is smaller you won't use as many strips.
Continue to adhere the strips, leaving a small gap between each piece if you wish. When finished, turn over and cut around the circle to remove the excess.
My circle was 11.25" in diameter so I found the halfway point with my ruler and marked where to cut. I used my SureCut Paper Trimmer to cut down the middle and adhered each half to my base pages.
I cut photo mats from Sapphire Cardstock. The left side has a 5x7", 4x4" and 2.75x4" journal mat. The right side has two 4x4" and two 4x6" mat. The white journal box is 2.5x3.75".
Next I used a few of the offcuts to make a little dovetail collection for the corner of the page and drew a border by hand with my Journaling Pen around the entire border and the journal box.
I stamped the title using the Prickly Pear Scrapbooking stamp set. I stamped Family in Emerald Ink,  Time in Sorbet and Is the best time in Emerald again. Finally I added a few hearts and flower stickers from the Complements pack.

Here's another look at the layout to save you scrolling back to the top!
